Craving Italian Summer

If you’re one of the 5.6 million Americans traveling to Italy in the coming months, this newsletters for you! This is my quick-hit, short & sweet guide to Rome, Florence, Portofino and the Cinque Terre — if you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to read the whole guide you can save my Italian Guides (Apple Maps and Google Maps) for future reference.

Florence Top recs:

  • Osteria Pastella - overall the best pasta we had on our trip

    • if you’re going to Florence you can’t miss the Tagliatelle flambé al tartufo fresco in crosta di Grana Padano!!!!! yes im fully aware of how ridiculous that name is

    • definitely make a reservation in advance

  • Vivoli - I swear this changed my life. Best Affogato EVER.

  • Buca Lapi - the oldest restaurant in Florence that invented bistecca alla florentine

    • so delicious & a very welcomed break after 10 days of straight pasta

  • Maleluca for a casual but amazing brunch

  • Don’t miss the wine windows! & also loved this pasta & tiramisu cooking class

  • loved our hotel - the location, staff and room were all perfect

Cinque Terre Top recs:

  • the best cooking class in the entire world - just trust me on this one. I loved every second of it.

  • the beach at monterosso al mare

  • dinner at restaurante belforte - amazing fresh seafood in the most picturesque restaurant perched above the ocean

  • catch the sunset in Riomaggore

  • our airbnb was TINY but perched on the cliffs overlooking the ocean - such a cool experience

Portofino Top recs

  • Strainer for a ~fancy~ seafood-centric dinner

  • either rent a boat for a day and cruise the coastline or check out Baia Cannone beach - it’s absolutely gorgeous

  • check out castella brown for insane views

  • the shopping here is next level

    • proceed with caution if you stumble into the Loewe store like me lol

  • the view from our bed & breakfast couldn’t have been better!!!! however the 180 cobblestone steps up weren’t ideal

    • overall I would still recommend this place for the price & the view

Rome Top recs

  • Roscioli - definitely the best meal we had in Rome

    • I found the city very touristy so finding authentic little gems like this one was hard but so worth it - def make a res in advance

    • There’s a location in NYC now but you can’t beat the authentic one

  • Gelateria Frigidarium - the best gelato we had on our trip

  • Sant’ Eustachio il Caffe - coffee was super strong & delicious

France guide coming soooooon!

Ciao ❤️
